If your child is drenched in the rain, ensure that they take a shower or a quick bath. Use a toxin-free body wash, suitable for their skin. The water should not be cold but preferably lukewarm. After they are clean, make certain that they are properly dry. They should also wash if they just got their feet, hands, and face wet.

  • Keep Their Heads and Hair Clean

  • Monsoons are hot, humid, and sweaty. As a result, you will find that your kid’s hair is itchy, tangled, and damp. These conditions are also conducive to head lice. You can wash their head with an age-appropriate kid shampoo once every two days so that the scalp is clean and healthy.

  • Wear Dry Clothes

  • Moist and wet clothes can lead to fungal infections. It is therefore essential that kids wear dry clothes during the rainy season. If you feel that their clothes are damp, you can iron them before the kids put these on.

  • Prickly Rashes

  • Despite taking every precaution, the moist weather could lead to clogging the skin pores. It might lead to prickly heat rashes that look like reddish eruptions. If your kid is suffering from prickly heat, then you can use antibacterial prickly heat talcum powder or lotion. These products absorb moisture and help reduce inflammation and rashes. Make your kid wear light and loose clothes that are breathable and moisture-wicking.

  • Clean and Dry Underwear

  • While we give a lot of attention to outer clothes, it is equally important that the kids are wearing clean and dry underwear. That is because it is the first layer of clothing directly in touch with the body. They absorb sweat and moisture from the body and wearing damp underwear can cause rashes and discomfort.

  • Wash Hands

  • The rainy season is a hotbed of germs and infections. With kids touching surfaces and objects, they must wash their hands. Especially if they are going to eat or have come from outside. Use a gentle cleansing hand-wash suitable for their skin. You can try Cocomo Handwash which is natural, antimicrobial, and dermatologically tested.

  • Eat and Drink Healthy Food

  • Make your kids drink water and healthy beverages like coconut water or glucose water. Avoid eating and drinking from outside, since contaminated food and water can cause upset stomach, stomach flu, and other water-borne diseases. Give them fruits rich in Vitamin C. Humidity increases fatigue, hence, ensure they eat at regular intervals.

  • Keep Mosquitoes Away

  • Mosquitoes thrive in the rainy season. Their bites can not only cause itching and discomfort but can also cause dengue or malaria. You should always use a mosquito repellent cream, gel, spray, fabric roll-on, or patch for the uncovered body area. Ensure that your kids’ bed has a mosquito net.

Like every other season, the monsoons have good and bad impacts on us. It brings relief from summer but also needs some caution due to humidity. If you follow the above preventive measures, you can let your kids experience the joys of rain without causing harm to their delicate skin and hair.
